That long day

Hello! That day was my sister’s bday. She turned 22 and I don’t remember ever throwing a party for anyone and I was very busy the last few years so I couldn’t even be there when it was her birthday. So I decided to organize her birthday.

Jenny, a friend of mine invited us to a COSMOPOLITAN Bikini Festival at Walkerhill Hotel. Her boyfriend is Bboy and had a performance on the stage so we could get in as VIP. It was so cool because there were several things you could get for free. Like there was a Bacardi corner where good-looking men gave you whatever drink you wanted. There was more like Starbucks, Clinique, Evian, ect. The line-up looked like this:

  • 10cm
  • Verbal Jint
  • Phantom
  • Mighty Mouse
  • Ulala Session
  • UV
  • … and so on

I only got to see three because I had to leave earlier to get ready for the night at Club Answer.

A friend who was promoter that night at club Answer was so nice to book a table for my sister.

Hyehwa

My favorite place in Seoul - Hyehwa

all pictures by me

Some might say this place isn’t interesting but i like it because of reasons.

-cupcake store right in the SKKU street-

At the beginning I never thought this place is so big. I just got to know it this year.

Surely, I still haven’t seen all of it but let me show you why it’s my favorite spot.

The place is well known for the Sunkyunkwan university, it’s famous university strip called Daehag-Ro and the theaters.

I went to some of the parties of the students from the SKK Uni and the ISS program (some kind of an exchange summer course) and it’s definitely fun and extraordinary international.

I used to live right next to the SKK Uni the last two times I stayed in Korea even though I never went to that Uni.

The subway station has 4 exits. Each leads you to another way.

Some pictures I took in Hyehwa

Let’s start with the food!

-sashimi with my friends-

-art of doenjang, best boenjang restaurant - lunchtime with my family-

-chinese restaurant-

-7th heaven-

-hmm-

-me and my friends were the only one in the cinema-

The situation right now

I’m so lazy nowadays. The only I’m concerned with at the moment is school. The semester start was 3 weeks ago and it’s really realllly tiring. Basically, the subjects and tasks are not that much of a challenge, the most tiring part of the entire day is the way to there and back. I live not near my school so my daily ride with the train and bus (with 3 transfers on each way) takes 2h there and 2h back, therefore 4h a day. No, I’m not moving to an apartment near the school. Too much of a fuss. The whole school thing was the reason why I didn’t post for such a long time. I want to blog so much more.. I really have to finish my summer recap, I have to do makeup tuts for monolids, and bla. After a whole month, I think I have settled everything down. In a way, I more or less got used to it. So I have more time and motivation to post more. I thank all my followers for sticking with me and not unfollowing me.

Oh and since I have a huge phone (Galaxy Note), I decided to write posts on my way to school.

Love you!

The summer in chapters part 1

I was gone for a too long time, i guess. And that’s probably why I lost a few followers. Doesn’t matter - let’s recap the summer! But let’s do it in chapter since it’s been a very long time and I don’t have time to tell you the whole story all at once because I have to go to bed early.

Let’s start with the situation atm. My school just started this week. It’s an art and design school and I’m doing the art foundation to study Industrial Design in Seoul by next year. The school is quite far away from where I live. It generally starts at 9am but I have to get up at 6am, FML. One week has passed since I’m back in Switzerland. Seoul has been tiring, exciting and fun.

Chapter 1_Busy after arrival in Seoul

I and my sister arrived at the Incheon airport in the evening. The flight was horrible and tiring. As soon as we arrived at the flat, we took a shower and went to Sinchon to meet my friend Hyungjin and his friend Sangbin. It was fun and nice to drink Soju after a while. But we went home early because we got very tired.

It was a kind of very windy that night, I remember.

Chapter 2_KT olleh’s service is awesome!

The next day, we went to Gangnam (강남) to buy a simcard. The new service KT olleh offers, is totally awesome. Even foreigners without a visa can buy a simcard for 5000W (~4$) as long as you have a mobile phone which is compatible with the simcard. And you have to unlock your phone before bringing it to the service. My galaxy note didnt have a simlock but iPhones usually do. After paying 5000W, you can charge your phone with any amount you wish for. I started with 60’000W (~55$) and added more credit later. In one and a half month, I spent around 200$ for calls, messages and 3G. I know, it’s much but in my case it’s not. Last year I spent 1000$ in 3 months in Seoul. My sister used like 30’000W which is like 27$. Anyways, check out their service here:  http://expatblog.kt.com/

Is my taste getting.. mature?

In the last few months and years, I seem to like things I didn’t like, respectively hated before. The crucial moment I realised it was when I ate a banana and drank green tea milk at the same time a few weeks ago. I usually don’t eat bananas. I always thought it’s the untastiest fruit in the world (next to apples and I still don’t like apples). As for the green tea milk - I like green tea but I never liked and understood the hype about green tea in Korea. In Korea, you can basically eat everything in a green tea edition. Green tea bread, green tea pat-bingsoo, green tea ice cream, green tea coffee, and blah. As of now, I’m getting excited everytime I see green tea x something. I fell in love at the second sight with green tea.

Korean people mix food they like with everything anyway. For instance kimchi. “Eat kimchi whenever, however and wherever you want”. My dad for example likes to eat kimchi with italian spaghetti and on pizzas (and it tastes really good). Another example is the current hype about cheese. The last few years I went to Seoul I noticed more and more korean food with cheese like cheese kimbaps, cheese ramyuns, cheese ddeobboggi and so on.. Yumm!

Seoul Booklet

I told you before that I’m an total freak if it comes to organisation. Not being perfectly organised means restlessness, complications and problems to me. Writing down stuff isn’t enough for me. I like to create some small booklets or presentations to print out. So this time, I made a small booklet using InDesign CS5 with all the general informations concerning flights, baggage, mobile phone, etc. You probably think this is useless and not normal but this way, I can put my mind at rest.

Why are my pictures I upload here on tumblr so blurry btw?

Situation

This is the first time I’m posting a photo of my new hairstyle. It doesn’t look that bad on the photo but I feel uncomfortable. I’m going to get hair extensions as soon as I arrive in Seoul if I can’t find clip extensions beforehand.

I started packing my bag yesterday and everything I packed was white pants. Too lazy.

I’m so excited to meet my friends and new people. One of my best friends, Jiyeong (Karinna) , is leaving in a few days so I won’t be able to see her which breaks my heart. I really missed her since we had a fun time last year. Hwi, another Seoulite friend, left a few days ago, too..

My head is aching but this bugs me

So my ex sent me a kakaotalk message again. He sent me a video we shot at a cafe in gangnam. As if I don’t know why. It’s so obvious. I’m coming to Seoul in a few days and he has to go to the military in a few months. He must be desperately looking for a girlfriend or at least a fling before the enlistment. Well, I would if I was a korean man in the same situation (the duration of the korean military service is 2 years). He’s one year younger than me and while we were together, my friends were all like (especially male friends) “Why are you dating a guy that hasn’t even done the military service? He must be really immature and bla” But to be honest, I met more idiots that have served the military than those who haven’t.

Anyway, after watching the video, I was like “oh you still have the video? I deleted it”. Of course I didn’t delete the video. It’s one of the cutest videos I’ve ever shot.

No seriously, I’m kind of angry (but at the same time a little bit happy) that he thinks we can be friends after all he’s done to me and after the breakup. Yes, he has apologized to me several times. After the breakup, a friend of mine told me that he dated some other girls and a few months ago, he had a new girlfriend but broke up after a while. I should just be acting cool and not really thinking of it too much.

Taxi photos

Not a very original photoset but I like them. I love taxis.

Taxidrivers. Some are silent and some talk too much. Early in the morning, taxi drivers talk a lot to keep themselves awake, i guess.

Taxitalks. Very often useless but sometimes very touching. Sometimes they talk about their children and family. But the basic topic is the weather, traffic and news. I like to listen to their rants about politics and economics even if I don’t understand everything.

Here I am, the master of bluriness lol!
